Academic Hospitalist – Nocturnist (100% Night Shifts) – Dallas, Texas
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting Academic Hospitalists to join the Division of Hospital Medicine at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor (Clinician Track) or Assistant Professor (Clinician Educator Track).
This is a full-time Nocturnist position, providing an exciting opportunity to practice in one of the nation’s leading academic institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional clinical care to a high-complexity patient population on med-surg level units
Triage duties on some shifts, including doc-to-docs for external transfers to our facility
Admit both hospital medicine patients and admit patients on behalf of other medical services at night (subject to change)
No procedures required
Limited cross-cover responsibilities, night shifts are primarily admitting-only
Closed ICUs, no critical care requirement
Collaborate with advanced practice providers in a shared visit model for some admissions
Moonlighting and daylighting opportunities are available at multiple clinical sites
Schedule:
Flexible scheduling system for nights based on shift availability
Night shifts are staggered, beginning as early as 4:00PM and ending as late as 7:00AM, not exceeding 12 hours
156 shifts per year
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution, or foreign equivalent
Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Internal Medicine
Eligible for faculty appointment with UT Southwestern Medical Center as an Assistant or Associate Professor
Unrestricted Texas medical licensure
Demonstrated dedication to teaching and mentoring in an academic setting
Commitment to participation in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and other scholarly activities
